|Billy Vogel and the EZ Open Motorsports team kick off their 2015 campaign over the weekend with the United States Modified Touring Series at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas).
A talent-laden field of fifty-three Open Wheel Modified warriors filled the pit area on Thursday night, all chasing the $2,000 top prize. A high pill-draw number pinned Vogel deep in a heat race as he went on to fall short of a transfer position, sending him to a b-main. Billy continued to battle the handle on his #4 EZ Open Garage Door/Durham Race Engines/LG21 entry in the b-main, ultimately failing to qualify for the 30-lap main event.
Fifty-five entries were on hand for Friday night's event as the winner's check increased to $3,000. Unfortunately, the team continued to struggle with the setup on the #4 Durham Race Engines/LG21 Open Wheel Modified, falling short of a transfer position in preliminary action to end their night early.
Saturday night's $4,000-to-win finale fell victim to Mother Nature.
